About
Built by someone who ships.
AI is here to stay, and at some point using it stops being optional and starts being the thing that keeps a business ahead. Most small businesses don't have the time, budget, or technical background to figure out where it actually helps, and that gap is what Common Ground exists to close. I'm Joan Escamilla, and I built this business to close exactly that gap.
We use the same AI agents and skills to go through a business's actual workflows and find the bottlenecks and gaps worth fixing. I've also spent three years shipping production software, including work on a healthcare platform that handles sensitive patient data under strict compliance requirements. As the company's first dedicated frontend and UI/UX developer, I built the automation, compliance tooling, and design infrastructure that let engineering teams move faster. That background is what tells us whether a fix is actually realistic to build.
Whether the fix is automating a manual process, building a dashboard or website, digging into a company's data, or cleaning up their SEO, we build and implement it. If a recommendation calls for a developer, that's already covered.
Mentorship is just as central to how I work. I've taught programming to students of every level, from kids to working professionals, and mentored a capstone team member I later hired, someone I still mentor directly a year in. If I can't explain why something works well enough to teach it, I don't consider it understood, and that's exactly what you get with Common Ground: something you actually understand and can keep running without us.
"We don't trust a fix until we know why it works."
If it sounds like a fit, the fastest way to find out is a conversation.
